Vintage industrial all-American table. Unique in all ways: the cast iron base is by Simplex MFG Co. of new york, originally made to support a typesetting machine. The base has been sealed off to prevent rust and decay.
1 1/2 inch thick top is made of repurposed fur slabs from rebuilding exchange, a Chicago nonprofit committed to diverting materials from landfills — the game we’re totally on board with. The top has been finished off with Osmo topsoil, a food-safe hard wax-oil finish. It’s microporous and breathable and does not crack, peel or flake. It’s also resistant to common liquid spillages such as water, juice, tea, cola, and wine.
The tabletop measures 62 1/2 inches x 25 1/2 inches and is large enough to comfortably seat four people. It’s perfect is either dining or work surfaces.
The distance from the top to the floor is 30 1/4 inches.
