Highly sought-after vintage industrial cast iron drafting table by legendary Eugene dietzgen co. It's a true conversation starter, or, more practically, a sitting or standing desk that appreciates over time.
The design is a classic of the early 20th century, featuring a cast iron base with “Dietzen” on the legs—that’s from back when they used to put their name behind their work.
Amazing scalability: the height adjusts from 34.5 to 45 inches with the top set horizontally. Top measures 46 by 30 inches. It's been made by two sisters from repurposed railcar flooring sourced from a Chicago-local non-profit, rebuilding exchange, at a woodworking class hosted by the same non-profit.
There is plenty of character and history left, with all the holes and gaps sealed off with epoxy, finished to the perfect smooth feeling. It provides a workspace that is comfortable for one, two, or even 4 people. Amazingly for the age, all the gears are intact, none of the prongs on the handles are broken, and everything works.
The top tilts, and the ribbed tilting clamp holds the tilt sturdy. All the adjustments can be easily performed by one person.
